Important Please read! Scheduled Maintenance.

Always save your work and close your applications when you are done for the day.

Scheduled maintenance is performed on the Virtual Desktops after hours and Sundays. Some maintenance such as Windows Security Updates require a restart of the Virtual Desktop. When the desktop is restarted, any unsaved information in applications left open may be lost. If Windows cannot restart due to unsaved applications left open, it will leave the desktop in a state where you are unable to login.

Applications and Software

Notes about the SmartCloud LLC Remote Desktop. Most applications and software will run normally. Many will run better than you are used to. There are however some applications for which Remote Desktop is not ideal. These include applications which are graphic or audio intensive and streaming services.

We suggest you use services like these on your location desktop:

  • YouTube
  • Pandora/Spotify/Internet Radio
  • Netflix/Hulu
  • Etc.

Remote Desktop Services are not compatible with steaming services and will result in latency and poor performance.

These types of services are to be run from your local desktop.

You will find your experience is best if you do not:

  • Change the desktop background.
  • Install applications which are not approved.
  • Install or Configure screensavers.

Logging off

When finished select the Start Menu button and Log off.

You may choose to Disconnect for short periods which leaves your applications running as you left them.  This facilitates logging back on and picking up where you left off.

When you leave for the day close your applications and log off.

Select Sign out in the upper right corner of the Work Resources screen.

For security Close your browser.

** Chrome can be made to Open RDP files saving you the steps to open the file.

When the file downloads there is a “^” to the right. Click and select “Always open files of this type”.  From now on Chrome will open the RDP file when you logon.
